Tamaki Sakurai is your typical corporate consultant. Every week, they fly out of town at dawn to put in long days at the offices of Bettr, their tech giant client. Then at the end of each day, it’s back to a generic hotel for a grab-n-go dinner and a video chat with the friends back home that Tamaki desperately misses.
It’s just modern life in the digital age—but there’s something lurking outside the confines of Tamaki’s hotel room, and it’s not here to allay Tamaki’s crushing loneliness.
Cold Hands, Cold Heart is the first story in the Infernally Employed series, which is based on the Japanese folklore tale Momotaro. In the city of Cosmopolis, it doesn’t matter if you’re animal or human—Big Tech is behind the wheel, ready to bulldoze anything that stands in their way of profit.
Risograph comic zine (12 pages) printed, bound and cut by Mariko Abe at Punch Kiss Press in Los Angeles, CA.
